Saltwood Café at Kioloa
Thursday 15 February, 2024
Today's lunch run and shopping expedition all rolled into one at Kioloa's Saltwood Cafe.
Meeting for coffee at the Heritage Bakery, the last to arrive were the two who live closest.
7 cars enjoyed a short meander south down the highway, Brian & I leading in our SUV (thanks to our altercation with a rabbit on our trip home from Bright) to the sleepy seaside village of Kioloa. Nicky, one of our newest members, met us at the intersection of the highway and Bawley Point Rd. Striking a pose in her leopard skin hat and gloves, she had enjoyed her 2-hour drive from Cobargo in her "shed find" beautiful shiny red NA. Mike and Madhu were waiting at the café.
Arriving in time for a little retail therapy in the charming shop attached to the café, full of homewares and clothing, some opting for a quiet pre-lunch beverage, we settled down for lunch and pleasant conversation with MX5 club friends.
Saltwood café is set in a tranquil Balinese garden surrounded by a hedge of bamboo. The menu contained delicious lunch choices, and offered a beer or glass of wine.
While only a short excursion, there was plenty of time for conversation and a relaxed and delicious meal. Not a bad way to spend a day.
