Swordfish Brewing

There was no trace of winter today… spring was definitely in the air. It couldn’t have been a better day for lunch at Swordfish Brewers. The most difficult start to the lunch was finding the parking area. As there was no run before lunch we were all meeting at the venue. Most cars did laps of the area looking for the venue until Geoff decided to stand on the main road to direct all the confused drivers into the parking lot. The hot topic of conversation in the car park was about the GPS directions which kept telling drivers they had arrived at their destination.. only they couldn’t find it. With destination stresses resolved, appetites came to the fore… so it was out of the car park and into the brewery. I fronted up and asked where we were to be seated… only to be told there was no booking….I hoped they had a chef on site! We had booked weeks earlier, but these things happen. No problem, as it was a weekday… so glad it wasn’t the weekend.
To enter the venue, you walk past vats of beer and the beers on tap area. Naturally thirst came before hunger and the beer selection conversations began, as did the cocktail debate. With mixed reactions to the initial selections, seconds were needed for comparison. Cocktails were given the thumbs up. Although the meal selection was not extensive, it was varied enough for everyone to easily select something appealing. The decision to sit outside was unanimous. The setting is picturesque with the deck overlooking the waters of Sussex Inlet and it was so warm, 22.8 degrees. Birdlife was prominent, with a large group of pelicans swimming by us being a highlight.
The time passed too quickly, as it does when you are having a great time. Everyone was pleased to have been given the opportunity to have lunch without a run beforehand. It gave people the opportunity to attend who have medical and time constraint issues. It was nice to have members from Kiama and the Southern Highlands attend today.
