Terrey Hills Tavern and Planning Run

Eight cars, along with their drivers and passengers, gathered at Benzin Café on a beautiful sunny Sunday morning for a run through Galston Gorge and Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park before finishing at the Terrey Hills Tavern for lunch.
We were pleased to welcome three new members to the club. Before departure, run leader Jonathan briefed the group on the best way to negotiate the traffic leaving Benzin Café and outlined the route north along New Line Road towards our lunch destination.
Sitting in the car with Jonathan, we started the engine and prepared to leave. Then came the realisation: the run sheets were still in the boot. Never mind, we decided. Nobody had asked for them, and we were confident we'd find our way.
The descent into Galston Gorge is always enjoyable, with its tight 5 km/h hairpin bends, narrow road and occasional oncoming traffic keeping everyone alert. We emerged safely at Asquith and made our way through the necessary turns before heading towards Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park.
Our first stop was Bobbin Head, where we stretched our legs, enjoyed the sunshine and took in the scenery on what had turned into a perfect spring day.
From there, the run continued through North Turramurra and St Ives before joining Mona Vale Road for the final section to the Terrey Hills Tavern.
Over lunch we exchanged stories, enjoyed plenty of conversation and even started planning a few runs for next year. A great day out, good roads, good company and excellent weather.
