The picnic that wasn't. Hill End in the rain.

RPM RUN TO HILL END
(NOT A PICNIC LUNCH IN HILL END)
It was a great early morning start from the Glenbrook Cinema Carpark with the forecast for the day being a bit chilly but bearable.
Travelling the Great Western Highway, we had a clear run through to Little Hartley Historic Village for our secondary pick up and morning tea.
At this time the weather was changing, with a bitterly cold strong wind and the temperature not moving above 7 degrees. After discussions amongst the group we decided, in the words of Rob Wilko “forego the picnic blanket and instead have lunch at the Hill End Pub”. The booking was made with the publican stating they weren’t expecting it to be busy as it was going to rain. Another thing the weather gurus didn’t let us know.
Leaving Little Hartley, now with the roofs up and heaters on, we proceeded on to Kelso where we turned off for a great MX-5 road drive to Sofala.
After a comfort break, heading onto Hill End Road to Hill End for lunch. Arriving at Hill End, the decision to have lunch at the pub was definitely justified. The wind was blowing a gale and it was raining and extremely cold.
One thing that was a blessing was that most of the drive was without rain.
A big thank you to all that joined us on the run and as usual to catch up and have a chat just adds to making the day most enjoyable.
(Rob Wilko as usual took many photo’s and even braved the cold and wet at Hill End to take some lovely pics. If you go to RPM Facebook page you will be able to access these photos.)
