Tidbinbilla Picnic Run
09 March 2026 / Words & Photos by Rhys and Ashley Howse
Our small group of five cars gathered at Two Before Ten at Denman Prospect for a coffee break prior to departing for the Flints Picnic area at Tidbinbilla.
We had a relaxing cruise out through Uriarra Village, down Cotter Road and into Tidbinbilla to enjoy the 40km/h zone all the way to Flints to set up our picnic.
Jo brought to the run the new 2026 MX-5 Soul Red, Black Roof GT to the run for some break in kilometres!
The group had the whole picnic area to itself - lending to some delightful photographs until of course a small car holding no less than 5 people decided to park within inches of our beloved sports cars. Typical!
There was masterchef action occurring with the building of delicious steak burgers, and the sharing of cinnamon buns from Gungahlins Le Bon Mélange Pâtisserie.
Steve made friends with a large raven (not a crow!).
With the new ND 'run in' (sorta), and the day christened with a cup of tea we started to pack up for the afternoon. Jo noticed there was a fairly significant christening present politely left by some large bird - that's some sort of good luck sign isn't it? Regardless, we rapidly tidied it all up and headed home.
Great day and great company as usual!
