What do I get for my annual membership fee?

04 April 2026 / Story by Bryan Shedden

Our annual membership remains outstanding value at just $65 for Full Membership and $90 for Joint Membership. Remarkably, these fees have remained unchanged for the past ten years, following a modest $10 increase in 2016. Before that, fees had not changed since the Club was founded in 1990 (aside from the introduction of GST in 2000).

To put that into perspective, consider the cost of fuel. Back in 1990, petrol was around 70 cents per litre, meaning an annual membership equated to roughly two tanks of fuel. Fast forward to 2026, and even before recent global price spikes, a Full Membership costs less than a single tank. Membership affordability has effectively doubled!

But it’s not just about costs — it’s about what you get in return.

The Club now offers more than ever. Our President’s Picnic has grown into a flagship event, free for all members to attend, and representing an investment of around $25 per member. Christmas parties and Motorsport Presentations are also generously subsidised, contributing a further $25 per member. The AGM, open to all members at no cost, represents another $50 per member in value.

Then there’s Club Torque, our printed magazine, delivered quarterly in glorious full colour if you want it. At approximately $10.50 per edition, that’s over $40 of annual value.

On top of this, members enjoy access to club runs, social events, classifieds, historic registration, and member discounts — none of which incur additional fees. Club runs are supported by indemnity insurance for organisers, along with a level of personal injury cover for members, providing added peace of mind.

All of this is backed by clear, timely communication through our professionally-designed website and regular email newsletters, helping you stay connected and informed.

The bottom line? Get involved, attend events, and make the most of what’s on offer — and your membership will more than pay for itself.
