05 July 2017 / Painted and donated by Kerry Shepherdson

Renowned Canberra-based artist and Canberra Chapter member, Kerry Shepherdson, has specially painted and generously donated an MX-5 themed painting for auction at the Canberra Chapter Winter Warmer and Charity Lunch on Sunday, 23 July.

If you would like to make a bid on the painting pre-auction, please let Bob Judd know (bricetandbob@bigpond.com or 0422 386 660), and he will make sure that your bid is part of the bidding process. The winning bidder does not need to be present nor do you have to pay for the painting on the day.

Remember all proceeds from this auction and from the other fun fund-raising activities associated with the lunch will go directly to CareFlight, supplementing the amounts already raised at the Hunter Valley organised all-club charity lunch in May.

Artist Statement: I have long been fascinated by the way the eye views the landscape when driving along, especially zooming fast in convoy. Apart from the reflections on glass mirrors, windows and reverse views, the vegetation and land features seem to pass by visually at different speeds within the area of view. I have noticed that the eye focuses unexpectedly in the distance, whereas it is very difficult to focus on the foreground which seems counter intuitive. As we pass by, everything is very blurred in the foreground and it changes into a mirage of shapes as it is left behind.
