A Snowy Mountains Extravaganza
Taking advantage of the Canberra Day long weekend and of Rod’s previous route planning (thanks Rod!) this is one for the drivers. If you enjoy driving and haven’t done these roads before then it is highly recommended.
Easy drive to Cooma with the first stop being Adaminaby for morning tea. Look for the not so life sized trout positioned just near where we will park.
Its all about the roads from here through to Jindabyne (with lunch in Khancoban).
Depending on time, we may even the able to drop into the Wildbrumby Distillery to check out their Schnapps.
Day 2 will see us reversing the previous day as far as Khancoban, then across the border into Victoria for morning tea in Corryong before a slightly less twisty run up to lunch at Tumut. Home is then via the Hume, by this point you might be grateful for a straight road and the chance to use cruise control!
There was no room at the (Jindy) Inn so rather than look for stables, a number of studio apartments (queen bed) have been reserved under my name at Horizons Lake Jindabyne for $206 inc breakfast (this is the member rate). 2 bedroom ensuite apartments are available if you fancy sharing (works out a fraction cheaper as well). They hotel does have additional rooms available if required.
