The Sliq Run Up The Putty Road is the annual opening event for the Breakfast Club held for Club members who relish an opportunity for an early waypoint run up what is the best MX-5 road within 200klms of the CBD driving at their own pace.  An ideal waypoint route with only two changes of direction, both right hand turns, over a distance of 194kms.

The run leaves Maccas at McGraths Hill at 7.00am sharp to minimise the irritation of traffic and maximie the joy of driving up the Putty Road heading north for the Hunter Valley.  The route naturally includes the awesome 13km run through the gorges before breaking out into the farmlands before the turnoff at Milbrodale.

We will take Milbrodale Road across to the Broke General Store & servo for a convenience break before heading south to twist and turn our way through farms and forest on Paynes Crossing Road to the historic village of Wollombi for breakfast.

If everything goes to plan you should be able to drive over to vineyards of the Lower Hunter Valley by around 11.00am or drive down the Great North Road for Central Mangrove, Peats Ridge and Calga to cross the Brooklyn Bridge at about midday for your run home.

Please ensure you fill up before arriving at McGraths Hill.

Our waypoints will be at:-

  1. Halfway House & servo (at approx 113km) at the top of Garland Valley on the Putty Road (convenience stop).
  2. A lay-by beside the Putty Road (at approx 145km) at the end of the run through the gorges.
  3. Our first right turn off Putty Road at Mibrodale (at approx 151km) onto Milbrodale Road for Broke.
  4. Broke General Store & Service Station Broke Road Broke (at approx 164km).

  5. Intersection of Paynes Crossing & Cessnock Roads Wollombi (at approx 194km).
