CANCELLED Mazda's on the Mountain
CANCELLED DUE TO INJURY
An alternative will be up on the web page shortly
An early morning start from the carpark adjacent to the Cameron Park MACCS is required for the run to Wingin's Burning Mountain Nature Reserve. It will be a straight drive up the New England Highway to Muswellbrook's Market St Park for a comfort stop. Following this short break, we'll depart Muswellbrook again on the A15 to Wingin.Home to Australia’s only naturally burning coal seam, Burning Mountain Nature Reserve. The weather is no issue as the Mountain is at its best when cold, wet and cloudy. So, dress for inclement weather if needed, but closed walking/hiking shoes are a must, as well as a hat, sun screen and water would be advisable. PS binoculars for bird watching too.
For those that are not adventurous enough to do a 2kms each way walk, feel free to relax in the company of others who may feel the same.
It is graded as an easy walk on a well-worn track. It is not however wheelchair assessable. Please bring coffee and nibbles if required and a water bottle for the walk. On returning from the sulfur encrusted underground inferno at ground zero on the Burning Mountain, it will be a short drive for lunch at the Durham Hotel at Wingin. A lunch menu is available at http://durhamhotel.com.au/menu Lunch is booked for 1pm. Please book by Thursday 8th of June so we can finalise the numbers for the Durham Hotel staff. Run Sheet to follow but is approximately 440kms return.
