Goulburn Historic Waterworks
Step back in time to the 1880s when Goulburn was one of the first regional centres to supply piped drinking water to its residents. The Goulburn Historic Waterworks has remained intact with a pump house and working steam beam engine. It is located in an idyllic setting on the banks of the Wollondilly River.
This unique facility is the only complete, workable, steam powered municipal water supply left in its original location in the southern hemisphere. The buildings and engine are of national significance and are now protected by a permanent conservation order.
Before arriving at the waterworks we will have morning tea at K&G'z which is only 3 mins from our destination.
If we have the numbers, a group tour will be organised at a cost of $3.00 per person. If not, the facility can be easily seen as a self guided tour. There is plenty of signage describing the exhibits.
Lunch at Roses Cafe will follow our visit to the Waterworks.
