Lunch at the Wombat Pub
Wombat is a dot on the map, just up the road from Wallendbeen, and not too far from Nubba or Murringo. But it’s home to a great little pub complete with a ‘history wall’ that will tell you all there is to know about the locality. We’re off to check it out.
But wait, there’s more! For just a little investment in your time, you’ll get a crisp run through the Southwest Slopes, a chance to experience John Chapuis' run leadership, and the company of a bunch of fellow Club mates. Not enough? How about a counter lunch at a ridgy didge Aussie country pub (first trading in 1877, it is reputed to have the longest running continuous liquor licence in NSW)?
John's led this run before, and if he takes the same route, you can expect to head off from Hume, and take the long way to Yass for coffee. We get to miss the boring Barton Highway and instead travel the back roads through Tharwa, past Tidbinbilla and the Cotter and head to Yass via the Mountain Creek and Wee Jasper Roads.
After re-caffeinating, we will head up the Burley Griffin Way (with a detour here and there) and Wombat Road to our lunch stop. The lunch venue is fine, and there are more than a few Club members who can vouch for the quality of the pub refreshments.
All up, around 200 km of terrific country roads. And then home your own way.
There'll be further details coming when John finishes his planning.

Run Grade: This is a ‘long’ run, suitable for most drivers. It features generally sound but narrow and sometimes twisty roads. The Club’s Grading System is described at https://nsw.mx5.com.au/events/important-information/run-gradings.
