Mazdas go to Mudgee
Rod and Maryanne are leading a three-day trip to Mudgee (and back again, of course) just because.
Actually, Mudgee and the surrounding region are chock-a-block full of things to see and do. The whole place is a hidden gem of Australia (if they do say so themselves), famous for its award-winning Mudgee wineries and unique Mudgee accommodation, which are some of the best in the country. The Mudgee Region is ‘the perfect spot to leave the hustle and bustle behind for a contemporary country destination’.
There’s every chance your leaders will find a good MX-5 friendly road to journey on.
There’s every chance your leaders will find a winery or brewery to visit and sample the wares.
There’s every chance your leaders will find some good food to wash goodies down with.
The basic plan is:
Day 1: 11 August 2025
Canberra – Mudgee, via Gunning, Crookwell, Oberon and Sofala.

Mudgee – Canberra, via Gulgong, Wellington, Canowindra and Cowra.

Accommodation
Rod has booked ten rooms at the Horatio Hotel, 15 Horatio St, Mudgee (Google map ref: 9HXW+Q5 Mudgee, New South Wales). We’ve stayed there before and it’s great—well worth the few dollars more than our usual digs. Accommodation cost is $195 per room per night, and the hotel offers a buffet-style breakfast for $25 per plate each morning.
The rooms are booked in Rod’s name (or possibly the MX-5 Club), so please give them a call to confirm your booking.
Could you let Rod Nicholas know, please, when you have booked in.
