MX-5 Fan Fest Tour de Force
Mazda Australia are hosting an MX-5 Fan Fest on 21 January 2017 at Sandown Raceway in Victoria. The one-millionth MX-5 is doing a tour of the world and it will be in Melbourne for this event. You will have the chance to sign the car and be part of history!
Members of the MX-5 Club of NSW know how to party and will be turning this one-day event into a six day Tour de Force!
Itinerary
Thursday 19 January
Meet with your fellow Chapter members to start a two day drive to Melbourne. We will converge at Lake Hume Resort in Albury for an overnight rest and socialise. See below for booking details. Dinner will be at Lake Hume Resort from 7pm.

Friday 20 January
Day two of our trip to Melbourne will include some superb twisty roads via Beechworth, Whitfield, Mansfield, Marysville, Reefton Spur and onto our motel near Sandown Raceway. Click here for a map of the route which includes about 6 hours of driving and 437km.
- Meet at Lake Hume Resort at 9:00am for 9:30am start.
- Morning tea stop at Beechworth Bakery (30min)
- Regroup waypoint at Whitfield
- Lunch stop at Bonny Doon Hotel (1hr)
- Regroup waypoint at Alexandra
- Afternoon tea stop at Marysville Bakery (30min)
- Regroup waypoint at Warburton
- Our route includes the M3 toll road so please bring your eTag
- Estimated arrival at Dingley Hotel is about 6:00pm
- Dinner at Dingley Hotel Bistro from 7:00pm.

Saturday 21 January
MX-5 Fan Fest at Sandown Raceway - follow the link for all the details. You MUST respond to the email invitation from Mazda Australia in order to register for this event. Over 2000 MX-5 fanatics and about 700 MX-5s will be at Sandown for the day!!!

Evening: The MX-5 Club of Victoria & Tasmania were planning to host a function at Sandown for all MX-5 Club members. Unfortunately it has proven to be too difficult and they have cancelled. Please make your own arrangements for dinner.
Sunday 22 January
Optional run with the MX-5 Club of Victoria & Tasmania. Up to 200 cars are expected for a run starting in the Berwick area and traversing the great Gippsland roads, with the regular stops along the way, and finishing at Lardner Park near Drouin/Warragul. This is a great specialised venue and is capable of dealing with the anticipated large numbers with ease. Rain or shine, an undercover area will be available with seating. Food, drink & real coffee will be available for purchase, supplied by local service club and school. Pre-registration is required (Click here to register)
OR do your own thing / go shopping in Melbourne.
Monday 23 January
Check-out of our motel and start the trip home. We will stop at Lake Hume Resort in Albury for an overnight rest and socialise. See below for booking details. Our route to Albury will be via Bairnsdale, Mt Hotham, Tawonga Gap and Bright. Click here for a map of the route which includes about 8 hours of driving and 588km.
- Meet at Dingley Hotel at 8:00am for 8:30am start
- Regroup and comfort stop at McDonald's Traralgon
- Morning tea at Stratford (30min). Choose either the bakery or cafe. Restart at 11:30am.
- Lunch at Bruthen (1hr). Choose either the bakery, cafe or charcoal chicken. Restart at 1:30pm.
- Regroup waypoint at Omeo
- Regroup waypoint at Hotham Heights
- Afternoon tea and regroup waypoint at Harrietville (30min). Choose your own a cafe. Restart at 5:00pm.
- Regroup waypoint at Tawonga (after descent from Tawonga Gap)
- Estimated arrival at Lake Hume Resort is about 6:30pm
- Dinner will be at your choice of venue in Albury
An alternate route suggestion will be provided for the less adventurous.
Tuesday 24 January
Day two of our trip home will be a simple convoy run up the Hume Motorway. Meet at Lake Hume Resort at 9:00am for 9:30am start.
Accommodation
Thursday 19 January and Monday 23 January
A block of 26 motel rooms and 6 cottages have been set aside for us at Lake Hume Resort in Albury which will be sufficient to cover the 90 club members who expressed interest in joining the trip down. The resort is 15min drive out of town but has a restaurant on site where we will have dinner on Thursday night from 7:00pm. The menu looks tasty, well priced, and it's licenced. We will have almost the entire place to ourselves!

21 x King Bed (10 trundle beds can be placed in the King Rooms to allow a twin room)
Hume 3 Bedroom Cottage - $270 per night per room - up to 4 guests (Room Only)
All Cottage rates are quoted per room per night, based on 4 people. Additional persons $20 per person per night. These cottages have Bedroom 1: Queen Bed, Bedroom 2: Double Bed, Bedroom 3: 2 Single Bed, Self-Contained Kitchen, Open Dinning & Lounge Area, 2 Air Conditioner Split System, Separate Bathroom & Toilet Facilities. A block of 50 rooms have been reserved at The Dingley International for three nights from Friday 20 January to Monday 23 January. The Motel is next to Moorabbin Airport and only 15-20min drive from Sandown Raceway. There is a Hotel attached with an expansive bistro and the menu looks excellent. Perfect!
