MX500+ ALL CLUB GATHERING AT ORANGE

Every year the BreakFast Club holds the MX500, a one day mega run, however, from 2017 we have merged it in with the MX5 Club Gathering that is again going to Orange on some old and one very new road made for the enjoyment of MX-5 enthusiasts.

We will head off at 7.00am from Maccas McGraths Hill to minimise the risk of traffic congestion and the inconveniences that could arise later in the day on the best MX-5 road within 200km of the CBD.  We start the day with an early run up the Putty Road to reacquaint ourselves with the road sign that heralds the start of the 16km of winding roads through Drakey Creek gorges before breaking out into the Lower Hunter Valley at Milbrodale.

Breakfast will be in either Singleton or Denman, a decision to be made once we meet up at after the run of the gorges.  The route after breakfast is to head for the start of the wonderful sweeping turns of Bylong Valley Way and regroup at the Bylong General Store once we descend onto the Central Tablelands.  We will continue down the Bylong Valley Way to Rylestone or Kandos to fill up with 98RON fuel for a run across to Sofala through Ilford.

After a short convenience stop at Sofola and look around what remains of this goldmining town that once housed 10,000 people we will head off for a newly sealed road for MX-5s, the Sofala Hill End Road once the domain of the diggers of the 19th Century and experienced 4WDs.  This road runs along the top, the walls and floor of the valley cut out by the Turon River and promises to be an experience.  Lunch will be at the newly refurbished Hill End General Store or the historic Royal Hotel across the road.

Following our lunch break we head back on the Sofala Hill End Road to take the right turn into Turnondale Road for the spectacular run down to the Bathurst Plains and the outskirts of the town to travel west on the Ophir Road to Orange avoiding the highway.  Our first stop once we enter town will be to refuel ready for an early start next day.

This is a waypoint run graded XH for experienced drivers comfortable with the prospect of driving every challenging section of sealed road we are able to drive along the 560km route to Orange.  If you have not been on a BreakFast Club Run then please call the Organiser before emailing your intention to join for more information.

IF YOU ARE ONLY ABLE TO ENJOY A DAY OUT IN YOUR FIVE then you can leave us for the run back to Sydney from Denman, Ilford, Sofala or Bathurst that will all see you home for dinner.

All members wishing to join us on this epic run should send an email to breakfast@mx5.com.au confirming their intention to accompany us on the day and give us some idea of how many cars we need to accomadate for breakfast.
