Nurbushring After Breakfast Run
Ever wondered where Wotton Way got the nickname “Nurbushring”? The answer is following a run over this classic stretch of road by the BreakFast Club very early in its existence and the ‘Das Karussell’ like experience on the Nurburgring set amongst the eucalypts at the top of the climb.
This awesome section of the Old Pacific Highway with its Armco and cement barriers, previously the notoriously dangerous Bulahdelah Gap section of the Pacific Highway, is the focus for this autumn run. The 2, 3 and 4 lane sections of roadway are all slowly deteriorating due to lack of maintenance and use by the half dozen or so farms along its route since it was by-passed in 1999 but this great Mx-5 road is still worth another visit in 2018.
An early morning start, to Patrick Bramston’s Barbie in the Mountain View Motel at Bulahdelah, for breakfast before numerous runs of the Nurbushring. When everyone has had their fill of the 12km each way challenge of the ups and downs of this sweeping mountainous road; we will head cross country on the delightful winding back roads to Dungog, then down to historic Morpeth or Paterson for refreshments, before heading home to finish off a great days drive encompassing assorted road and driving experiences.
This run is best suited to experienced MX-5 drivers as it is an XH graded Waypoint Run including the 110kph freeway to Bulahdelah, the roads selected in the Hunter Valley and the distances involved.
