ON THE ROAD FROM GUNDAGAI

14-15 October 2017

Book your rooms at both motels by the 21st September 2017 for the club rate.

DAY 1

The drive starts at 6.30am from the Gundagai Motel, 264 Sheridan Street Gundagai NSW 2722.

To Book  Ph 02 6944 1066.  We have 10 rooms reserved.  Double-ups if required.

We will take the sling shot down the Gocup Road on our way to Tumut. The road has been upgraded, with excellent surfaces providing fast sweeping bends through wonderful farming country.  The drive then takes us to Tumut and on to Wondalga and the start of the Green Hills Blast, up and over the mountains to Tumbarumba.  Leaving Tumbarumba, we head for Elliotts Way, testing the driver’s skill and superb handling of our MX-5’s at the pace at which you feel comfortable.

We catch our breath at the Link Road Junction to allow everyone time to re-group.  After a 10-15-minute break, we head down Goat’s Ridge Road through Cabramurra and the Ghost Forest.  This scenic section will test our most courageous members, tight narrow roads with blind corners that will leave you breathless but wanting to have another go.  Then on to Shane O’s Café in Khancoban for a breakfast/brunch that you will always remember.

After our breakfast feast, we winf=d our way up The Alpine Way to Dead Horse Gap on onto Jindabyne where we will re-fuel.  The Snowy River Way awaits, onward then to Bombala through Dalgety -the optional site for Australia’s Capital City-, a fast open stretch of road that at times seems surreal, even heavenly, as you crest and turn over the grassy plains of the Monaro High Country into the land of the timber cutters.

We leave Bombala for Cathcart and the rainforest descent from Mt Darragh, a great drive through taxing terrain to the Pambula Valley to follow the meandering course of the Pambula River through forest and farmland to the coast and our stopover in Merimbula.  All in all a tremendous day's drive ithrouhg some of the best roads and diverse terrain in NSW in your MX-5, that you will won't forget in a hurry and want to do many more times in the future.

Overnight Summerhill Motor Inn, 24-26 Merimbula Drive Merimbula NSW 2548.

To Book  Ph 02 6495 3111.  We have 10 rooms reserved.  Double-ups if required.

DAY 2

Our day starts early at 6.30am with a brilliant and challenging drive through Nethercote, Lochiel, Wynham, Myrtle Mountain, Candelo, Bemboka and on to the Lott Café in Cooma at about 10.15am for breakfast.  We say our goodbyes after breakfast and head for home at 11.15am.  If you are travelling to Sydney you should be at Pheasants Nest by 2.30pm.
