If you come out on a run today, you’re sure of a big surprise

It’ll be lovely down in the woods today, so don’t go closing your eyes.

For every car is driving today,

‘Cos today’s the day the MX-5s are having a picnic.

Bring your tucker and drinks and a chair, or/and a rug if you choose.

Of course, it wouldn’t be sensible to have a picnic without having a bit of a drive first. So, we will start at Daughters at Hall for a little pre-run pick-me-up, and then head off towards Yass. Rather than heading into town, we’ll take a left turn into Grand Junction Road and continue for a while along the Wee Jasper Road, through the countryside, down to Teamas Bridge over the Murrumbidgee River and then, a little while later (after carefully avoiding a pothole or two), chuck another left into Mountain Creek Road.

This delightfully scenic route will take us to our picnic venue at the Cotter, a short 40 minutes after leaving the Wee Jasper Road.

We’ll have games (suitable for all ages and abilities) to keep everyone occupied—maybe a tournament to tease your competitive nature.

The route from Hall to the Cotter is about 110 km and will take us about one and a half hours. The roads are in good nick, apart from a couple of very short patches (which are well known to your leader), but there are some tricky little curves as we head down to the river.

If you want to come picnicking, but not on the run, that’s OK—just meet us at the Cotter around noon (but register first, please).
