Nothing to do this day? Then join us for a cruise to Jugiong. Ian was originally leading this run, but unfortunately is no longer able, so you’ve got us instead!

There will be a 'pit stop' at Gunning. Before, for us at least, some new roads up towards Dalton then back to Yass, but not on the highway. Another detour awaits with some more back roads off the Burley Griffin Highway before we enter Jugiong, hopefully with large appetites!

Jugiong is a small village (population around 300) adjacent to the banks of the Murrumbidgee River. The town is experiencing a revitalisation, maybe due to the EV charging station, which hopefully an MX-5 will never need! It is said Richie Benaud (Australian cricketer) spent part of his early life here, Jugiong that is, not at the EV charging station...

The Sir George Hotel was originally built in 1852 close to the river, but over the course of time, floods meant that the hotel was moved to higher ground, where it remains today. The Sir George has been recently restored to create a warm and relaxed space where old meets new with accommodation, restaurant, boutique bar and artisan bakery. The gardens are beautiful and the tucker is plentiful.

After lunch you will have an opportunity to further explore this historic village or perhaps take advantage of the limited boutique shops.

The run will be approximately 280km in total, travelling through lovely undulating and at times, twisty country roads. Expect some narrow country roads and a few potholes to avoid.

Lunch currently is booked as a function (shared platters as per last year), however depending on numbers we maybe able to amend to this al-a-carte.

RSVP to Cathy and Simon, cathysimon.mx5@gmail.com.

Run Grade: This is a cruiser run, suitable for all drivers. It features narrow country roads,
mostly quiet but with maybe some rough edges and potholes to negotiate. The Club's Grading system is described here: https://nsw.mx5.com.au/events/important-information/run-gradings
