Snowy Extravaganza 2.0
Last year proved to be quite event what with a kamikaze burger, keys locked in a boot (whilst we were in the middle nowhere), a 100km u-turn not to mention the excellent drivers roads. So, let’s see if we can top that in 2026!
Going anticlockwise this year we will veer further to the west to take in some alternate and hopefully for some, new roads. It’ll be a scenic but relatively cruisey run until we cross the Murray in Victoria at Jingellic. From here things only improve as corners abound all the way through to our overnight stop in Corryong.
Accommodation has been secured at the Corryong Country Inn. LIMITED ROOMS available, however there are other accommodation options in Corryong. The rooms are currently booked under Simon, please call up and provide your details then let me know so I can keep track.
Breakfast will be somewhere in Corryong. There will be a stop at Khancoban for morning tea and a wander across the spill way which forms point of the original Snowy Hydro system – it wouldn’t be a Snowy Extravaganza if we didn’t ogle at some large piece of infrastructure! We’ll then head off up a rather large hill to Thredbo and beyond.
Lunch will be in Jindabyne, followed by further driving on the sweeping bends between Dalgety and Cooma.
All up about 750km and close to 10 hours driving. It’ll be a big weekend for sure, but one that that will be full of fantastic roads.
