The MX500
September is finals time. Whether you're a league, AFL or rugby person, it's tough not to get swept along in the fervour of the pointy end of the season. For the BreakFast Club, it's no different. After the qualifying final of the Brass Monkey which was quickly followed by the semi final that was the Iceberg, think of the MX500 as a grand final celebration of all things BreakFast Club. It should be noted that the MX500 will be followed up with the end of season weekend away (think Mad Monday without the gauche costumes, sex scandals and toxic masculinity - more on that next month).
As the name suggests, the MX500 is an elongated BreakFast Club style 500km event that will see you home in the later afternoon as opposed to our typical "early morning - home by lunchtime" mantra. The MX500 will see us begin with a fairly sedate stretch down the Princes Highway before stopping at Nowra to refuel and recaffeinate. Some members may wish to indulge in a light takeaway style breakfast here. South of Nowra we'll set the compasses for west as we tackle the Braidwood/Nerriga Rd. Stopping at the famed Nerriga Hotel for a comfort stop, we'll utilise the excellent Oallen Ford Rd to send us into the Southern Tablelands. These wide and lush meadows are a real treat from the view of an open top sports car and we'll take the Windellama Rd as a path to Goulburn for a middle of the day meal at Roses Cafe. Well renowned in the area, Roses is a must stop when travelling through the town famed for it's big sheep.
After playing the regular season and navigating the finals, it's time you rewarded yourself with a trip to the big dance. It's the ultimate BreakFast Club run on the calendar.
Please note that this is a waypoint run and is graded XH. Participants should familiarise themselves with the waypoint guidelines and the run grading criteria before attending. More information can be found here:
