Thirlmere Rail Heritage Museum
Every boy has at some time dreamt of driving a train, for some it lasts a lifetime. We can’t promise you a drive, but a visit to the footplate and a chance to enjoy a 40-minute diesel hauled heritage train ride on our visit
Departing Bewong Rest stop at 9-00am we will travel north along the Princes Highway through Nowra (crossing the new Nowra bridge) and Bomaderry turning onto Moss Vale Road for the run up Cambewarra Mountain to Kangaroo Valley for a coffee stop. Where you have coffee is an individual choice, be ready to leave the agreed assembly point by 10-40am
Leaving Kangaroo Valley we will head towards Barrengarry mountain (watching out for pot holes) and coninue along Moss Vale, Sheepwash, Tourist and Range roads to Thirlmere.
We will arrive in Thirlmere at about 12md when we will lunch before going to the Museum at the best pie shop in Thirlmere. Loop-Line Pies, the small pie shop that fills the streets of Thirlmere with the delicious smell of fresh pastry, bakes a selection of gourmet sweet and savoury goodies daily on premises and serves up a top notch espresso to wash them down.
After lunch, we go to the Museum. https://www.nswrailmuseum.com.au/ Entry is $15 per person for the museum only and $35 per person for the museum and train ride, Concessions are available and tickets can be purchased on line.
