We’re Going Wayback!
PLEASE NOTE: THIS RUN REPLACES THE PREVIOUSLY PROPOSED RUN TO TARALGA
THIS RUN IS STRICTLY LIMITED TO 20 PLACES - FIRST IN, BEST DRESSED!
It’s been 20 years or more since I last visited the Goulburn Brewery, and for most of that time it's been shut and shuttered. Now Australia’s Oldest mainland brewery is open again, and it looks a treat!
A pleasant country run, maybe a spot of coffee, a good lunch at the Maltings Bar, a taste of their wares, and a run back home. What more could you want?
The Goulburn Brewery was established in 1836, by the banks of the Mulwaree River. It was designed by the convict Francis Greenway (Australia’s first architect), and over the years has operated as a flour mill, a cooperage, a malthouse, a rehab centre, a hotel, restaurant, theatre and function space and (of course) a brewery. When I was last there, the site was run by a Catholic priest!
We’re looking at a run of, roughly, 150 km each way, through mostly nice country roads, with a bit of highway thrown in because, well, we don’t have much choice.
The currently proposed route is available through the following link, but like lots of things, it’s subject to change. It will, however, give you an idea of what we have planned:

Run Grade: This is a cruiser run, suitable for all drivers. It features narrow country roads, mostly reasonably quiet, but the roads may have rough edges and some potholes to avoid. The Club’s Grading System is described at https://nsw.mx5.com.au/events/important-information/run-gradings.
