Wildbrumby Lunch
Given the lack of coffee options at Calwell, it’ll only be a short drive to Cooma before people can get their fix.
After the Cooma stop we’ll take some back roads to Dalgety. Stopping briefly, we’ll wander down to the banks of the Snowy River, to see if we can spot a platypus or two. Did you know, Dalgety narrowly missed out to Canberra on becoming the nations capital!
Whilst this might be setting the bar high, we’ve never been disappointed with Wildbrumby. The food, drinks and service have always been exceptional (no guarantee from us though, if it goes wrong this time, complain to their management, not us!). There are plenty of schnapps varieties as well as other tasty treats in their shop if you want to take something home.
After lunch rather than heading directly back to Canberra (although you can if you wish) an alternate route has been planned. This will take in more scenic roads than the Kosciuszko Road to Cooma has to offer. After this slight detour we’ll end up back in Cooma.
For those that need it afternoon tea can be had, before tackling the highway back to Canberra.
All up around 400km / 4:45hr of driving.

It features 100km/h highway, plus some narrow country roads which are mostly quiet but with maybe some rough edges and potholes to negotiate.
