CHRISTMAS IN JULY ARMIDALE 9TH-11TH JULY 2021.
Last years visit to Armidale/Glen Innes was well received so this year we thought “lets change a few things”. So, its winter not summer (that’s woolies not sun cream), food and wine (not old cars and museums), shorter car trips (not long highway trips) open fires and electric blankets (not air con and fans), all centered on Armidale (no Guyra and Glen Innes). Petersons Winery (Armidale) and guesthouse will be our base for the weekend check out the website at petersonsguesthouse.com.au
WEEKEND PROGRAMME: Friday 9th
Our run will commence in Port Macquarie, and travel along the Oxley highway to the Stockyard Creek Rest Area (below Gingers Creek, the roadhouse is still closed), where we stop for a BYO morning tea. We then drive through to Walcha where we meet Kevin and Jen who will lead the rest of the run, travelling via the Terrible Vale Road to The Kentucky Store for lunch.
From there we travel direct to our weekend accommodation at Petersons Guest House just outside Armidale. Friday evening meal is TBA
Saturday 10th: Depart the guest house at 9.30 am for a “tablelands tour” to Uralla, historic Gostwyck Station, back into Uralla for morning tea. Then we follow Thunderbolts way NORTH to Yarrowyck, turn onto Bundarra road for the run back to Armidale. Back in Armidale we head back to the guesthouse for a light lunch and wine tasting. After lunch, you have a choice of a short town tour taking in the University of New England including “Booloominbah” homestead and various other points of interest in and around Armidale. Or you can relax at the guest house in front of the fire, have a snooze and just CHILL out. Saturday Night is “CHRISTMAS IN JULY” in the hall of the Guest house….2 course alternate drop meal in front of the open fires.
Sunday 11th: Depart accommodation by 9.30am for the run along Waterfall Way to Wollomombi falls then into Wollomombi village for a cuppa at the Wollomombi store. On to Dorrigo for a surprise (time permitting) then lunch at COMPONENTS cafe. Here the run will end, make your own way home from here

Accommodation: the Petersons Winery Guesthouse(petersonsguesthouse.com.au) is rated highly by Trip Adviser, however, they can only accommodate seven couples.
If we have more than seven couples, the overflow will be accommodated in first class accommodation in Armidale which will be determined if required. There are four different room rates for the seven rooms, so we have booked the whole house and averaged the price for each room, we will then have a draw from the hat to allocate rooms to those booked into the Winery Guest House: The average Room Rate will be $236.00 per night for 2 people including 2 full breakfasts (usually $25 per person) and a bottle of Petersons wine on departure.
Friday Night: TBA but will probably be “you choose, you pay”.
Saturday Lunch: $14 per person, plus $5 per person for the wine tasting (this is refunded on any purchase of wine) Saturday Night Xmas in July Dinner: $55.00 per head for 2 course/alternate drop (alcohol at your cost) Sunday: Morning tea and lunch “you choose, you pay” NB: Some minor details, such as lunch at the Kentucky store, may change depending on our number and the Covid situation at the time.
