2026 MX-5 Club Driver Training Day

06 April 2026 / Ian Combes

The one and only MX-5 Club Driver Training Day at Pheasant Wood on the 17th May is now open for entries!

Given the cost of living these days, and the cost of fuel at the moment, we have kept the entry fees for the event are unchanged. This is the club's entry level (track) event so we like to keep it affordable. We do need club members (and visitors) to get behind it though and support the event. These are always fun days, and highly recommended!

Doesn't matter if you are a newbie on the track or a experienced driver, it's still a great day. If you are a newbie - this is the best chance that you will get to experience a circuit in a safe and controlled environment. You start with a classroom session and then have 5 or 6 experienced drivers next to you in different sessions during the day giving you some tips. Don't worry if you have never been on a track before and think you won't be fast enough. That's what this day is for. Also, you don't need to be a budding racing driver - this is also a chance to extend yourself and/or your car in a safe way that you can't (or shouldn't) do on a public road.

Although we call the event a driver training day, our volunteer experienced drivers are 'advisors' rather than 'trainers' (since we don't have formal qualifications), but our advisors all have extensive experience on a circuit and know what they are doing. In fact many (or most) have been to many of these driver training days and hence have experience coaching drivers who are new to circuit driving.

People with track experience also use it as a practice day, and we absolutely encourage regular trackday competitors to come along and support the event (although, being a training day, we can't do timing).
