The 1st Round of 2024 Track Day Sprint and Regularity Championships was run at Pheasant Wood Circuit near Marulan on Sunday 24th March.

After a few last minute withdrawals, the 38 drivers were greeted by a glorious day and a circuit in good condition.

For many years the club track days have hosted a supersprint competition, with cars in 5 classes competing for sprint championship points. In 2024 we have added a separate regularity championship, and this event saw the first regularity competition with 5 drivers participating.

Drivers in a regularity event score points based on how accurately they can drive to lap the circuit in a time as close as possible to a target time that they have previously nominated. Drivers competing in a regularity don't have to push their cars to the limit, like they would in a sprint.

Over the day the sprint drivers had the opportunity to compete in 6 runs, while the regularity drivers had a practice session and 4 regularity "trials".

From my point of view is was a good day with plenty of good driving and enjoyment.

A special thank you to the 7 club members whose work as officials made the event possible.
Ian Fenn, Glenn Thomas and Matt Tarrant as flaggies, Jean Cook as our steward, Joe Kovacic managing the grid, and Gerardo Martin diligently working as our scrutineer to help make the event as safe as possible for everyone involved. Gaynor Lawler was the event admin and she did the majority of the work required to organise the event.

The track day Results and championship Points Score are now available on the club website.

Our next club track day at Sydney Motorsport Park is in 2 weeks on Sunday 7th April, and will again feature both sprint and regularity competitions. Entries are open now. See the event page here.
