Ginger's Creek Run

With storms and heavy rain threatening, our contingent of 7 cars departed the Port Macquarie service centre for a short run to our morning tea stop at Byabarra.
We were pleased to welcome new MNC chapter member Graham Rochester and his new white ND to the group. Barry and Jenny Luttrell from the Hunter chapter also joined us, who are becoming welcome regulars to many of our events.
After some congestion leaving the car park, we cruised west to Wauchope, then up into the hinterland and through to Blue Poles café at Byabarra.
This is one of our favorite dining spots, where we sit outside on a large balcony enjoying sweeping views down a valley and out to mountain ranges in the distance. Our host Ian and staff served their usual selection of tempting treats that were hard to resist.
Appetites satisfied, we then travelled back to the Oxley highway, where we turned west and climbed into the mountains to enjoy the tight winding road through to our lunch destination at Ginger’s Creek Roadhouse. Our only delays were some roadwork stop lights that afforded us the opportunity to raise our tops as light rain was starting to fall, and a low loader carrying earthmoving equipment that kindly pulled over to let us past.
Upon reaching Ginger’s Creek, 4 cars continued along the highway for a short run to enjoy the winding road before turning back to join the remainder of the group at our lunch venue.
After a leisurely lunch over good conversation, we departed Ginger’s Creek to travel back down to the coast, and make our separate ways home. The weather remained on our side with only a few showers on the return trip, completing another enjoyable run.
