Go-Karting with Kerry - Picton 2023

Although a large contingent of Illawarra MX-5’s were zoom zooming their way around Tassie, it didn’t dampen the enthusiasm of the remaining contingent, for the speed and fierce competition of Go-karting! Kerry’s go-karting events are well known for their competition, camaraderie, coveted awards and prize money!
Old and new club members gathered at Figtree McDonalds for a coffee, before heading to Picton via Mt. Kiera. Kerry led the way in his Mustang, with his grandson Travis riding shotgun. It was great to see James again, who joined the convoy in his Ford 4x4. This was a new route for Tony, who enjoyed the Mt. Kiera stretch in his ND. That run up the mountain is always such fun!
We were met at Picton Go-karts by the loyal Go-karting supporters. Wally, Pat, Jeff and Pam had the best seats secured, with an excellent track view. Trophies and treats were laid out, to inspire us all.
With pre-track briefing complete, round 1 was underway and Travis was showing everyone how it's done! Competition was fierce and the breaks between rounds saw tactical adjustments under discussion.
Travis and Sam carefully assessed the round 1 results. James and Steve got some pointers from Sam.
Coming into round 3, you could feel the tension in pit lane. The final laps were frantic, with contention over who had the line in the critical final lap. James saved the best till last and gave it a good bit of wellie to deliver the best time of the day!
After 3 three rounds and intense debate, the committee representative, Wally, announced the 'Best on Day' winner. Kerry presented the perpetual trophy, cheque and chocolate to Sam, our 'Best on Day' winner.
First round of drinks are on Sam, once he gets that cheque cashed! The final award for 'Top Supporter' was presented by Kerry to Wally.
It was a short trip to the George IV hotel for our post track de-brief, whilst we all waited for our yummy meals to arrive.
A lovely time of laps, snacks, chats and laughs. Thanks Kerry for organising a great day.
