Lakeside Sunset BBQ

At 4.30pm amid dark and stormy skies, light rain and far off lightning, 13 cars, 24 intrepid members including 4 new members, Phil & Mara Ellerton and Ted & Dianne McGrath, set off from Speers Point Park. With the four red MX5s leading the way we headed off down the west side of Lake Macquarie. Separated by traffic shortly after, Tail Enders Elaine and David, rounded up the last couple of cars. A happy local enjoying the cars also waved us around the correct corner!

All in a row again on Wakefield Road, at Awaba the sign on the wooden bridge had everyone scratching their heads “One Way – Give Way” this on a two way bridge up until very recently. Heading through Dora Creek and then through Cooranbong (interesting fact: Chris tells us there is a giant duck four time bigger than the other native ducks in the reserve at Cooranbong!)  to Hue Hue Road where we turned onto Bushells Ridge Road a new road to all of us. Great find.

Arriving at Sandy Beach Reserve, Summerland Point for a picnic dinner, the rain had stopped. Everyone was happy and relaxed. A great little run just over 80kms. As time for the sunset drew closer, the clouds parted and the promised sunset performed beautifully on cue. Well done George and Jen.
