Mystery Around the Lake BBQ

The day started out a little dull and the wind was blowing with fourteen cars arriving at Edward Park Booragul for morning tea, our new member Lucas and visitor Terie were welcomed wishing them a good day’s drive.

Everyone was still trying to guess where we were going, lots of good ideas were floating around. So off we went travelling back through Teralba out on to Rhondda Rd and Wakefield Rd until we turned down Miller Rd, thankfully all the pot holes had been filled making for a smooth run. From Toronto towards Morisset we had to make sure Barry and Jenny’s car didn’t turn for home on autopilot before continuing down the western side of the lake through Mannering Park and Wyee, to the Pacific highway.

Now for the fun part, after turning off the Pacific Hwy for Murrays Beach we needed a break and we asked that the run stop for a moment but as if it was deemed not to be safe to stop with so many cars the majority continued on. The next instruction confused many and they proceeded back onto the Pacific Hwy again. The first three cars to arrive at the meeting point were the leader and the two tail ends with the rest arriving a short time later after a detour, what a mix up, but that’s all part of the adventure and fun. With the mystery venue now revealed as NESCA Park Owned and run by Ausgrid NSW. Many have known about it for years but few have ever been.

Wow and what a great setup everything that we required for a great day. With the sun shining and the wind dying down we sat and chatted while David Gazzard and Mark Janus cooked the BBQ. What a feast I hope everyone enjoyed it. After lunch a game of bean bag tossing was in order, so after a little practice the challenge of the ladies versus the men began. The ladies had a comfortable win over the men, there was lots of fun and cheering for everyone. Dessert was served and with so much choice it was hard not to have little of everything.

Many thanks to Mark & Linda Janus and to all the Ladies for bringing dessert and for everyone helping with the cleaning up you are all great. We have been welcomed back anytime by the caretaker Kai so I suppose we weren’t to rowdy.  GREAT DAY!
