New Convenor for Sydney Chapter
24 September 2015 / Guy Coles
Two years ago, while speaking with Bryan Shedden, he mentioned his frustration in being unable to find someone to start-up a Sydney Chapter of the club. In a moment of brain fade (much like my moment at Phillip Island) and with a glass of Merlot in hand I unwittingly put my hand up. The rest is history and I’ve been honoured to help.
It’s been a fantastic coupel of years, achieving some pretty good things in that time and the number of people that I could/need to thank would go on for pages but the important thing is that the Sydney Chapter is functional and now established. After discussion with the committee and the members, I felt that it was time to add a new perspective to the Sydney Chapter and rather than pass it off, I was more interested in finding a successor that would have the same passion that I had for the club. Not stepping down, rather passing the baton to the next runner.
On that basis, I am pleased to announce that Ed Crowley was voted in and will accept the baton that I pass on the 1 October. Ed is a very worthy successor with a long history in the Automotive industry (and secured trade discount for club members through his work – ask him how to exercise this), has a VERY nice NB and also has a family history of Motor Racing with an Escort and Clubman racers in the family garages.
Ed’s details will be up on the club website in due course and thank you to all the Sydney Chapter as well as all other Club members that have made my journey so enjoyable.
