RPM run to Mount Wilson

Mount Wilson visited.
For the hottest March Day on record, the early morning fog felt strange as I left home. By the time I arrived at McGraths hill the fog had lifted leaving a cool damp morning. As usual Gary Joss was first there and into his coffee ably assisted by Rob Wilkins. Things soon heated up as the usual suspects rolled in making eleven. Just as we were getting ready to leave Ted Johnson and his son Tyler from Sydney Chapter pulled into the car park in a great sounding NA followed by a suitably loud RX8.
A quick briefing sent us out to the cars with Gary and Robyn Keyvar leading us out onto Windsor road. Light traffic allowed us all to stay together as a group arriving at Mount Tomah for a quick comfort stop and on to a pre organised tour led by one of the park managers showing us around the upper part of the garden. Including the Residence Garden, the Protea section and some of the fire damaged area. An interesting history lesson about the park was followed by a walk into the presentation room where we watched a video covering much of the beauty of the gardens at different times of the year. All of this time Rob was taking beautiful pictures of the blooms and trees.
The day was starting to heat up as we dropped our tops and took off for Mount Wilson and Windyridge Garden. A quick cup of tea or coffee and we were glad of the tree cover in the 30 plus degree heat as we wandered the beautiful old gardens.
With the temperature building Garry led us over to the picnic area where we relaxed and enjoyed the shade of those ancient trees as it hit 36 degrees. Jacqui and Ron unpacked their Scotch Eggs while Robyn and Deb tempted us with some beautiful cakes while we all swapped tall tales and true into the afternoon. Thanks to Jackie, Rob D and Brigid M for helping us enjoy our day. Great work Garry and Robyn a well planned run.
Our thoughts go to the poor man who lost his life that day while canyoning in the river below us.
