Sculptures By The Sea
Tuesday 28 May 2024
Our “meander with Anda and Karen”, began at the Heritage Bakery Milton. It was a lovely sunny Tuesday morning, perfect weather for tops down. We were joined there by Leann and then Kim and Fred at Burrill Lake. Our three red Mazdas glistened in the sun as we zoomed south down the highway towards Batemans Bay.
Our first stop was the Soldiers Club for morning tea, Mike and Madhu were already there waiting to meet us on the café balcony. The view over the Bay was amazing. There we enjoyed delicious coffee and cakes ( melting moments were the most popular ). Ian had missed our start but caught up with us at the club.
After coffee we all decided to walk to the sculptures along the Mara Mia walkway which was very pleasant in the Autumn sunshine, past restaurants and cafes alongside the Bay. We spent about an hour looking at the amazing works of art. There were 43 outdoor pieces scattered along the foreshore and 70 indoor pieces in a marquee.
We then walked a short distance to our lunch venue, the Se7en Café located in the Batemans Bay Lodge. We met up with two more members there, James and Giulia. Lunch was delicious and we all enjoyed great conversations.
All too soon it was time to head home. Those of us who had walked, even had time for a short session of retail therapy on the way back to our cars.
Thanks everyone for a very enjoyable day at the Bay. Great food, amazing sculptures and as usual great MX5 company.
