Shannons Wheels 2023

Another bright and sunny day greeted the 13 members who bought their polished ‘pride and joys’ along for the annual Shannon’s Wheels Display Day at Queanbeyan Oval on Sunday 19 February 2023. The previous day’s slight rain dampened any dust that may have been around, and the hot sun quickly dried out the freshly mown grass.

Shannon’s Wheels Display is run on behalf of the Council of ACT Motor Clubs to raise money for local charities. Over recent years, over $100,000 has been raised from the donations collected each year from participants and the general public. The Display Day was very well run this year and our Club was provided with an excellent patch to display our cars in a fitting manner to the general public.

This year, over 700 vehicles were on display, representing the 75 motoring clubs in the Canberra district. From Alfa Romeos to Wolseleys and everything in between, they were all there to see.

It’s always a great day to show off our cars and meet new interested people, some of whom may join our club in the future. Our Chapter’s Convenor, Rod Nicholas, had a busy day handing out business cards whilst explaining all the different MX5’s, Miatas and Roadsters we were able to provide for display.

As always, we look forward to participating again next year.
