Early in the morning
As the sun was rising
The alarm sounded loudly
To wake us from our sleep
Time to get out of bed
The open road is calling
Our little cars are taking us
Out to Tarago
We left Hayward’s Bay
A group of fourteen members
All eager for the drive
Up Macquarie Pass
Around the Southern Highlands
Through Bundanoon and then
On to Wingello where
We stopped for morning tea
Milkshakes, tea and coffee
Raisin toast all round
Lots of fun and laughter
Then back into our cars
Travelling the back roads
Out through Windellama
Winding, twisting all the way
Down to the ‘Loaded Dog’
The staff there were waiting
On our arrival
Pre ordered lunches ready
As we walked through the door
Another round of eating
Followed by a brew or two
Lots of chats and fun was had and
Then some ‘birthday cake’
Soon time to say goodbye
And head home in our own way
Some up towards the Hume and
Some the way we came
Oh what a great day
I can say ‘hip hip hooray’
