Wisemans Ferry Inn
01 March 2024 / Chris Wyatt
A pleasant run.
Windsor’s popular Macca’s in McGrath’s Hill was the starting point for nine cars of all vintages to run up the well-known Hawkesbury roads heading for the historic village of Wisemans Ferry. Out along the Putty Road and Bull Ridge Road to Sackville Ferry. The ferry master saw us coming but reopened the gate anyway so all of us could board and head as a group along the winding Sackville Ferry Road. Turning into Wisemans Ferry Road and up through Maroota and past the old Stonehouse Café, we wound down the hill towards the ferry stopping just short at the old Wisemans Ferry Inn.
The old building has a long history around the times of Solomon Wiseman whose history is worth a Google. The building might be old but it has been sympathetically modified to make use of the great views over the river. Arriving on a Tuesday allowed us to partake of the “Lunchtime Specials” which surprises us every time we go there with great variety, quality and huge serves. The staff were fun and helpful.
This lunch was made all the more special with so many from Sydney chapter including the ever-present Rob Wilko. This always make discussion so varied and fun and we talked long into the afternoon before heading off in many different directions to home.
Thanks to Jacqui and Ron for another great run.
