Join us for something a little different to our normal track days - a supersprint at Phillip Island!

This is round 7 of our Sprint Motorsport Championship and is the 2026 Interstate Challenge with the MX-5 Club of Victoria & Tasmania. It has been quite awhile since the Interstate Challenge has been at Phillip Island - 2012 was the last. The reason is pretty obvious - it's a long way to travel for most people in the MX-5 Club of NSW. That is a shame, because it is a superb circuit, which anyone who has actually been there would hopefully agree with.

In 2026, it is the turn of the MX-5 Club of Victoria & Tasmania to host, and we were a bit stuck for where to hold it. It came down to a choice between Broadford (not somewhere we have been before) and Phillip Island. Of the Phillip Island dates, 6th December was the only one that worked for us, which is later in the year than we would normally do. In the end we decided to run with this date.

This supersprint is run by the AROCA Club.

Many members from MX-5 Club of NSW have driven Phillip Island in the 6 Hour Regularity Relay (including myself on a number of occasions). Many of us have always wandered though what it would be like doing a competitive Supersprint there. It is one thing cruising around in a regularity, and quite another pushing the car to the limit - especially on this circuit.

If you haven't ever driven Phillip Island, or have only ever done a regularity there, this 2026 Interstate Challenge should be on your bucket list! This is a great circuit - like nothing else you might have done - besides The Bend in South Australia. It is long drive (normally 2 days, especially if you are towing a trailer), but it is absolutely worth it. The surface is just beautiful, and the flowing nature of the track is very enjoyable.

The Victorian club will let us know when entries are open - the event is popular, so does fill up quick.

This is a (single points) round of the 2026 Sprint Championship - Round 7. As is customary, you will be able to drop one round in 2026.

It is a popular event, so it would be wise to line up your accommodation well ahead of time too.

Entry Fee & Payment

Details will be provided when they are available - presumably entry will be via the AROCA website.

MX-5 Club of NSW Technical Rules

Please note there may be some changes in the technical rules and benchmark times for the championship vehicles classes. You should review those updates when entering an event in 2026.

A new 2026 class declaration form is required to be submitted once in 2026 per vehicle for all Club sprint entrants, and then again each time there are further modifications to the vehicle throughout the year.
