MX-5 All Club Gathering Weekend
All members are invited to join an all Chapter Gathering at Orange and overnight stay on Saturday 12th August 2017 for a dinner at the Orange Ex Services Club. Every Chapter has been asked to participate and organise a run to and back from Orange on the weekend, either as a standalone run or in conjunction with another Chapter. Individual arrangements made by Convenors for their runs to and back from Orange are posted separately in the Events List.
The weekend event organised by the Club will be centred on the Orange Ex Services Club at 231 Anson Street, Orange. We have organised a Function Package set out below and have been able to organise a package deal with the Town Centre Motel. The Templers Mill Motel forms part of the Ex Services Club complex and members must make their own booking directly with the motel if they wish to stay there. The Templers Mill Motel was recently refurbished and has a four star rating.
ACCOMMODATION
Members are required to book their own accommodation with either the Templers Mill Motel or the Town Centre Motel, or any other motel in Orange of their choice.
Templers Mill Motel: The Templers Mill has 80 suites and rooms ranging from single rooms to suites and apartments starting from a single at $165 for a twin room and $168 for a double bed for singles or both at $175 for two. An executive room for 1 or 2 people IS $185. For those interested the motel also offers queen executive suites and apartments. To book with the Templers Mill Motel, you need to call 6362 5611 and in making your booking advise the reception that you are attending a function at the club with the MX-5 Club.
Town Square Motel: The Town Square Motel is down the road at 188 Anson Street, Orange. This is a 17 room motel, who have offered the club a flat rate for single, twin or double room of $130. The motel has a 3 star motel rating and was recommended by the Ex Services Club as an alternate accommodation. To book a room at the Town Square you need to call 123 456 789 and ask for either Annie or Joanne as they have negotiated the special flat for the MX-5 Club for the night.
ALL CLUB DINNER
We have booked a room in the club for a 3 course dinner at a cost of $50 per head. We have selected 2 choices for entrée, main and dessert which are as follows:
Entrée
- Chicken & leek risotto vintage shaved parmesan
- Caesar salad with parmesan croutons, bacon, egg and dressing
Main
- Chargrilled salmon on a crusted pea puree fennel mash and lemon cream
- Herb crusted lamb rack with roast vegetables and natural jus
Dessert
- Vanilla bean cream brulee with almond biscotti
- Honeycomb cheesecake with hazelnut praline
Special Diet Meals
- Anyone who requires a vegetarian, gluten free or has other special dietary needs will have to advise the Organiser not less than seven (7) days out form the event to arrange their meals.
Beverages are not included in the cost of $50.
If you have a special dietary requirement, then there is a provision on the Registration Form for you to record that preference and we will then communicate that to the functions manager. As with most function catering the courses will be served in rotation to alternate dinners who will have the option of swapping with other members.
SUNDAY MORNING RUN UP MOUNT CANOBOLAS & VISIT TO PHILLIP SHAW WINES
Subject to the weather on the day it is proposed to have a run up Mont Canobalas after breakfast and checkout at around 9.45am we will head off on morning run. At 1,390 metres Mount Canoblas is the highest point in the Central West with extensive views of the region with good drive up to its summit with cold climate vineyards on it slopes. On the way down it is proposed to drop into Philip Shaw’s award winning Koomooloo Vineyard to visit his cellar door that opens at 11.00am, taste some of his wines and enjoy the views and his landscaping. Registration
A registration form is posted below and must be completed for each person attending. It is important that when registering you:
- Confirm that you have booked your accommodation and checked off a motel.
- Advise if you are joining the Club for dinner.
- Advise if you have special dietary requirements.
- Confirm payment of the cost of the meal.
- Indicate whether you intend to join us on the visit a winery on Sunday.
The Canberra Chapter run will come from the south and members from Sydney and surrounds can join the waypoint run from McGraths Hill meeting at 6.30am for a 7.00am start up the Putty Road from the Sydney Basin.
Below are the names of those persons who have registered or said they are attending. For those who are "To Pay" and have registered or said that they are having dinner with the other members, they MUST pay the Club $50 each as the Club has directly paid the venue on 7 August 2017.
