Griffith describes itself as ‘one of Australia’s most vibrant cosmopolitan centres. … Griffith exudes a rich blend of cultures and traditions. Bursting with life and energy, the main street is dominated by Italian cafés serving great coffee, pizza, local wine and house-made gelato’.

You had me at ‘Italian cafés serving great coffee’.

We will take our dazzling MX-5s into the Riverina for the opening weekend of the spring festival. See https://griffithspringfest.com.au/

The plan is to drive over on Friday 11 October. We might stop at the rural museum in Temora for brunch organised by the CWA if we can. https://temora.com.au/see-do/the-bundawarrah-centre

In Griffith we’ll stay at the Grand Motel https://www.grandmotelgriffith.com.au/.

On the Friday night we could take a short walk from the motel and dine at Linone Dining. This is one of the best restaurants in Griffith. https://www.limone.com.au/

On Saturday there are plenty of wineries etc to visit and we might organise a group convoy run. Some of the venues available can be checked out at these sites:

https://whittonmalthouse.com.au/

On Saturday night we could take a short walk from the motel to the Hotel Victoria for dinner. https://www.hotelvictoria.com.au/bistro/menu/

The festival starts on Sunday13 October. However, one would expect they start putting up citrus sculptures etc on Saturday. There should be interesting displays and other things to entertain on Sunday. Have a look at the site.  https://griffithspringfest.com.au/

It’s daylight saving so we’ll have plenty of time of daylight to drive home in. Of course, people could stay on in Griffith. There are various events over the following weeks.

Mike has reserved 10 (king and queen) rooms at the Grand Hotel. They will be held until mid-August. Numbers will be limited to that.

So if you are interested ring up the motel (02) 6969 4400 ASAP and get a room allocated to you ( held under Mike’s name) and then email Joanne at Joanne.Blackburn@bigpond.com so she can put you on the run list.

Run Grade:

This is a long run, suitable for most drivers. It features a fair bit of country highway driving. Each leg of the run will be less than two hours driving time. The Club’s Grading System is described at https://nsw.mx5.com.au/events/important-information/run-gradings.
