Twenty seven participants and sixteen cars including a Porsche and VW GTI had an early morning met at Cessnock Tourist Centre for our 450km inland run through historic towns and villages.

The air was fresh for the 7:00am meet at Cessnock McDonalds, but to our surprise not fresh enough to keep 22 cars and 37 attendees away from an early morning blast to breakfast down the Putty Road.

The Hunter Chapter's March Run was planned as a low kilometre run with the emphasis on kicking back and socialising, and what not a better opportunity to kick back than at the Kurri Kurri Nostalgia Festival.

Well after a week of downpours which decided to continue into the weekend... so to set the scene we had a sand and water backdrop moving with the breeze and sound of water flowing down the driveway as well as a welcome gift for each attendee, a “lei” …. lol.

Approximately 15 cars and 25 members gathered at Thornton to catch the last of daylight savings with a twilight run to Port Stephens. All aboard, our run leaders for the evening Elaine and Lyn, decided to pull a late April Fool’s prank on us all by taking a wrong turn straight out of the carpark. A quick loop around the block had us back on the correct path soon enough!

Can you imagine declining Mazda-paid return flights to Melbourne from Sydney to attend MX-5 Fan Fest? It was an easy decision for Philip when the alternative was the ultimate road trip from Sydney to Melbourne 1,600km and 23 hour drive time. This is a bucket list item ticked.
The Hunter Chapter took to the roads heading south into the Southern High Country for a week of stunning views, great driving roads and what better company to have than fellow club members.

On 20 January 1997, the MX-5 Club of NSW held it's first track day at Wakefield Park. We will be celebrating the 20th Anniversary of our Club Motorsport on the weekend of the 19-20 August in Goulburn and at the Wakefield Park race track. Save the date!
