Eager to dive into the cherry-picking experience, we grabbed baskets and scattered among the rows of cherry trees. It took less than 30 minutes to fill our baskets – five kilos to the top, and we needed to pick from only a couple of trees each.

Boorowa welcomed our fourteen cars with plenty of parking outside the Courthouse Hotel. It's a quintessential country pub where we were warmly received, and enjoyed a pleasant and leisurely lunch with the usual large servings of a country pub.

The road to Wee Jasper demands caution—narrow roads, wildlife encounters, a few potholes, a dodgy cattle grid, and a little loose debris across the track. But for all that, it is a lovely country trip through picturesque farmland and forest, with a few good twisties for driver enjoyment, and gorgeous scenery for the passengers.

As it was the month of August, tradition dictated that devotees of the great wombat go to the temple of wombat and make an offering. And so, a small but dedicated group of said devotees from the Canberra Chapter made the twisting, turning, hazardous journey to the Wombat Temple.
