Adding content
This page details the process for adding new content to the MX-5 Club website.
Using the administration pages of the website you can manage existing content, and add new:
- News (for run reports, announcements, latest trackday results, MX-5 news items, general interest, etc),
- Events (for future Club events)
plus images and documents to be used in those news stories and events.
Content management is done via the MX5 tab of the website administration page
1. Login to website administration. You will enter on the Dashboard page as shown below. You will see tabs at the top for Dashboard, Site and MX5. The Content and Admin tabs are only visible for Site Administrators. Pages that you have left in Draft are shown under "Your Draft Content" - these are "work in progress" and are not visible to the public. The "Recent Activity" section lists the content that has been recently published.
2. Select the MX5 tab to the right of Dashboard and Site tabs. The display defaults to the "Events Administration" page as shown below.
3. Rollover the MX5 tab in the blue bar to access other content categories. The various content categories are described in the table below.
News & Events -> Events | Events scheduled doe a future date, to appear in an Events Listing |
News & Events -> News | Stories that will appear as a News item in a News Listing |
Media Assets -> Image Library | Image that will be used in a news story, an event or anywhere else on the site. |
Media Assets -> Image Galleries | A set of images selected from the Image Library that will be displayed as a Gallery. We generally do not use this facility as it makes more sense to show photos within News stories. |
Media Assets -> Classified Image | Images intended for use in Buy & Sell ads - this area is managed by the Website Coordinator and must not be accessed by Contributors. |
Media Assets -> Classifieds | Classified ads that will appear in the Buy & Sell section - this area is managed by the Website Coordinator and must not be accessed by Contributors. |
Media Assets -> Background Image | Images that are specifically used for the background on pages across the website. This area is managed by the Website Coordinator and must not be accessed by Contributors. |
Media Assets -> Document Library | The documents that are referenced by other content on the website. For example, PDF files which are linked from a webpage. For example, see the Club Torque Library or the Motorsport Results pages. |
Sponsors -> Sponsors | Images and website links that are used in the Sponsor rotator that appears at the bottom-right corner of every webpage. This section is managed by the Website Coordinator and must not be accessed by Contributors. |
Category Management -> Category | Events and News are categorised into different Topics and the titles for these Topics are defined here. This section is managed by the Website Coordinator and must not be accessed by Contributors. |
Contact Form -> Form Entries | List of all enquiries made via the Contact Us form on the website. These are automatically sent to the corresponding Committee member via email. This section is managed by the Website Coordinator and must not be accessed by Contributors. |
